Onica becomes one of the highest-scoring businesses, with standout employee engagement.
SANTA MONICA, CA – May 16, 2019 – Onica, an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Partner Network (APN) Premier Consulting Partner and audited Managed Service Provider has been named one of Inc. Magazine’s 2019 Best Workplaces.
This list is the result of a wide-ranging and comprehensive measurement of private American companies that have created exceptional workplaces through vibrant cultures, deep employee engagement, and stellar benefits. Collecting data on nearly 2,000 submissions, Inc. singled out 346 finalists.
Each nominated company took part in an employee survey, conducted by Omaha’s Quantum Workplace, on topics including trust, management effectiveness, perks, and confidence in the future. Inc. gathered, analyzed, and audited the data. This year, 74.2 percent of surveyed employees were engaged by their work—beating last year’s 72.1 percent.
The strongest engagement scores in the data came from companies that prioritize the most human elements of work. These companies are leading the way in employee recognition, performance management, and diversity.
It’s been a breakout year for Onica, as the company has emerged as one of the largest AWS consultancies in North America through the acquisition of TriNimbus Technologies, Canada’s first APN Premier Consulting Partner. Onica was also named to CRN’s 2019 Tech Elite 250 list and the company earned a spot on CRN’s 2019 MSP 500 list, joining the MSP Elite 150 category recognizing cloud-focused MSPs. Onica also ranked second on ChannelE2E’s 2019 Top 100 Vertical Market MSPs List.
According to Stephen Garden, Onica’s Chief Executive Officer, “What people really love about working here is the challenge of working on some of the most sophisticated cloud projects in the world. Our team members say that they can gain a three years’ worth of career experience in less than six months.”
With a continually growing portfolio of AWS cloud computing solutions and enterprise clientele, Onica has grown more than 300% over the last two years to become a global cloud transformation company.
“The opportunity to be at the center of this transformation is the main draw for our employees,” says Garden, as the company boasts some of the best tech talent around with 400+ AWS certifications. He also points out the company culture emphasizes transparency and empowerment. “We always want employees to let us know what’s working and what’s not,” said Garden. “We want people to be empowered to take initiative to help the company grow.”
The 2019 Inc. Best Workplaces Award comes at an opportune time as Onica has rapidly expanded to 8 locations with new offices in downtown Toronto and Irvine and is looking to aggressively hire people who are passionate about helping businesses innovate on their cloud journey.
While researching the finalists, Inc. and Quantum saw distinct themes:
- 99 percent provide health insurance—and some cover the cost.
- 49 percent allow employees to bring pets to work.
- 65 percent take employees to offsite retreats to relax and recharge.
- 16 percent offer paid sabbaticals to reward length of service.
“With today’s tight labor market, building a great corporate culture is more important than ever,” says Inc. magazine editor in chief James Ledbetter. “The companies on Inc.’s Best Workplaces list are setting an example that the whole country can learn from.”
