With more than 50 years of experience, Ormco is a leading manufacturer and provider of advanced orthodontic technology and services, including custom orthodontic appliances (custom-fit braces).
The obstacles they faced
Ormco’s original software application had outgrown its design and the company’s customers wanted and expected more — in particular, digital capabilities. Orthodontists needed a one-stop shop for deploying the application and keeping it running.
Ormco partnered with Rackspace Technology and AWS for expert help in building, deploying and managing a modern web application from the ground up and by leveraging AWS and its many services.
How we helped
Rackspace Technology was instrumental in leading Ormco from a previous generation architecture to a new, modern stack, and from shared hosting to AWS. The Rackspace Technology team introduced DevOps concepts into Ormco’s application. It also helped design processes that ensured the reliable generation of deployment artifacts and promotion of the artifacts throughout deployment stages.
The environment designed and deployed by Rackspace Technology uses AWS CloudFormation for infrastructure automation and AWS Elastic Beanstalk for application deployment and management. Ormco also deployed and configured monitoring and automated recovery techniques via auto-scaling groups and Elastic Load Balancing to keep the application continuously available.

Ormco enjoys the benefits of a secure and reliable application, including virtually no downtime. Rackspace Technology maintains the automation that runs the environment, allowing the internal Ormco team to focus on its core business operations without distractions.
